Prefab AAC Panels
Where Quality, Speed and Cost meet
Loading...Some of the main challenges that the design and construction team faced when designing and building this project were:
- Build a building that will withstand all possible attaches from nature. A more resilience building.
- Design a building that meets all construction codes and project requirements without diminishing quality, within the construction schedule and project budget.
Considering the above, the Hebel Building Solutions selected to add value and help solve the main challenges of the project were:
- 2” Hebel Power Panel as exterior cladding
- 8” Hebel Load Bearing Wall panels on elevator and Stair Shafts
- 6”, 7”, 8” Hebel Floor and Roof panels
- 8”, 10”, 12” Hebel Block on Exterior, Interior walls on all the first level and through the building.
- Hebel Base coat on exterior walls
The Hebel Building Solutions used in this project add value by providing speed of construction by using the Hebel Power Panels for exterior walls in a prefab application (Light Gauge Steel framing + 2” Hebel Power Panel + Stucco finish). All prefab walls were assembled off-site and shipped to the site for a fast installation. This Hebel Building Solution can save at least two months over a 12 months project in comparison to choosing a traditional building method when it is correctly coordinated.
Furthermore, cost savings, in addition to the savings due to the speed of construction which saved construction time by using Hebel Floor/Roof and wall panels (large units) throughout all the building, savings were made due to its lightweight (only 41 psf – app. 200 kg/m2) which helped to optimize the foundation and main structure. The Power Panel Prefab system only weights 10 psf ( app. 49 kg/m2) of wall. In addition, Hebel Building Solutions showed saving by optimizing the wall and floor assemblies by meeting all codes and project requirements with only one building component.
Brandon Wallace, president of “Alamo System Industries, LLC” states:
“The project is on the coast, 100’ off the ocean. Should there ever be a storm surge, there is not concern about salt water corroding the exterior wall system o the first level since it is 12” block. Any client of mine that has used Hebel once, has never used anything else again.”
It is worth mentioning that Hebel's certifications were relevant in the negotiation of the project. The main characteristics considered were Hebel's lightness, thermal and acoustic insulation properties, followed by time savings, easy installation and fire resistance.
