Networking in difficult times

Loading...

While methods of communication changed from the beginning of time mankind has always relied on face-to-face messaging. Over the past couple hundred years various forms of communications from the telegraph to being able to send messages in the matter of seconds to almost every corner of the world, were added to social personal interaction.

The Corona pandemic has also shown us that our oldest and most comfortable form of communication had to be abruptly altered. Trade fairs and congresses were cancelled in the past months globally. Face-to-face meetings and interactions no longer available to ask questions, learn and network with like minded professionals. They were also an important method for AAC Worldwide to gather information, talk to the readers and disseminate information. We have had to rely on other means of collecting information and communicating to our readers. So far, we have been able to employ other means to successfully, not only sustain, but grow the journal.

We have greatly expanded our contacts on relevant social media platforms and I must admit this also works well. Our AAC Worldwide-LinkedIn channel has seen a significant increase in followers and exposure. Your interest in our journal is what motivates and inspires me.

Trade fairs and congresses will always be an important part of our business-culture and human communication. Since April much has been learned about precautions and mitigation of this virus. ICCX Russia 2020, taking place in early December in St. Petersburg, will be the next opportunity for the AAC industry to network in a traditional way with all the required precautions.

For the 2nd year AAC Worldwide will hold an AAC-session on 3rd December as part of ICCX Russia 2020 in cooperation with the Russian Association of the AAC Industry - NAAG. A preview of the lectures and presenters can be found in the following pages.

Last but not least I would like to come back to our reader survey. The results of the survey were evaluated in early September. A short contribution to the reader survey can also be found in this issue. On behalf of the entire AAC Worldwide team, I would like to thank you for your feedback and look forward to your continued support. If there is something you would like to see in the only trade journal for Autoclaved Aerated Concrete, don’t wait for the next survey; send me your ideas!

I hope you continue to enjoy and benefit from reading AAC Worldwide, Michael von Ahlen
