Terraced houses in Mölle are emerging thanks to quality materials and an eye for detail

In the middle of the old village, Haaks Stenhus is currently building 11 townhouses with planned occupancy early 2024.

Mölle was originally a fishing village dating back to the 17th century. Today, the resort is a well-known tourist destination that attracts both nature lovers and surfers. In the middle of the old village, Haaks Stenhus is currently building 11 townhouses with planned occupancy early 2024. The houses are approximately 135 square meters in size, divided on two levels and have a consistently high standard of material selection.

The new townhouses have features of slate in the facade to reflect the unique location at beautiful Kullaberg. In addition, it has been chosen to build the outer walls in solid autoclaved aerated concrete from Xella, a leading supplier of sustainable and innovative construction solutions in autoclaved aerated concrete and sand-lime blocks. A choice that guarantees an energy-efficient and healthy indoor climate.

Sustainability and well-being in focus

In 1990, Per Haak founded the company Haaks Stenhus and since then they have gone from being one employee to involving nearly 40 people. The company's vision is not only to build houses, but to create living spaces – a concept that the choice of materials also realizes.

“We build so that people can thrive and feel good in their homes. That is why our houses are built with proven and healthy materials. For us, it is a matter of course to build in autoclaved aerated concrete if you want a healthy home. It is a material with great thermal inertia, which means that the house keeps the heat in in the winter and shuts it out in the summer, thus leading to an even and pleasant indoor climate all year round. This means that the residents avoid unpleasant drafts indoors and at the same time save money by keeping the expensive heat where it should be, says Per Haak, CEO and founder of Haaks Stenhus.

The focus is on creating pleasant homes using high-quality and durable building materials, such as building solutions of Ytong autoclaved aerated concrete from Xella.

Sustainability and the environmental issue have also been in focus for Per Haak since the company's beginnings. He says:

“I have always wanted to build in such a way that it promotes both those who will live in the house and the surrounding environment. It is important for me to know what the materials I use contain, something that I was kind of a pioneer with. That is a big reason why I always build with natural materials.”

Small details make a big difference

For Mölle's new townhouse, Xella has supplied Ytong autoclaved aerated concrete for both the outer walls and intermediate joists. Choosing lightweight building material for the intermediate floor is one of the details that Haaks Stenhus thinks is essential to enhance the premium feeling in the home. Per Haak explains:

“Building the floor between the floors, i.e. the intermediate floor, in autoclaved aerated concrete is quite unusual. Wood is most common. But we think that solid slabs add something extra to the houses, because you avoid the creaks that are often found in houses with wooden beams. It is a detail we choose to increase comfort for those who will live in the house when it is finished.”

Per Haak concludes “we are happy to be able to deliver high-quality and pleasant homes that are fire-rated, offer an excellent indoor climate and meet the requirements for modern construction to the residents of Mölle.”

“Haaks Stenhus is the oldest provider of Swedish stone houses in the Swedish single family house market. This project, with its connection to the sea, highlights the benefits of inorganic breathable monolithic walls and we are a proud supplier of this project” – Fredrik Johansson, CEO Xella Scandinavia.
